Royal Pita Maha, Ubud Bali // 11 November 2018
A celebration defined by pure joy! When we first saw the images of Crystal & Don’s destination wedding we knew we couldn’t wait to share this stylish soiree. From Crystal’s entirely unique wedding gown through to the jaw dropping floral styling, we are in awe of the entire celebration!
How we met // Through friends in Uni. We were actually dating other people at the time but we clicked and we were close friends for years before dating!
The Engagement // Don proposed while we were on holiday in Ubud, Bali – the main driver behind why we wanted to have our honeymoon there! We were on a cycling tour through the town and he randomly popped the question at one of the lookout points. It was such a sweet and unexpected moment. Our families were so thrilled when we shared the news.
The Dress
I was buying SO many bridal magazines, looking at blogs, Instagram, Pinterest etc. There were also visits to about 5 different bridal stores but I couldn’t find anything that was very “me”. I ended up contacting Christie because I had stalked her work on Instagram and her previous brides were absolutely divine. The detailing on her dresses is unlike any other and it was so unique. When I met her, I knew she was the one! We worked together on the dress collaboratively and the whole experience was just effortless and easy.
The Details
Don’s suit was from MJ Bale. We knew we wanted something a little different to the typical beige linen suit that most grooms tend to steer towards for a tropical holiday – plus I love a man in pink!
Walking down the aisle and seeing all our loved ones and then seeing my husband at the end of the aisle in his pink suit just beaming. He was SO happy it was the sweetest.
In Hindsight // I feel like I was well prepared for the wedding and I knew how much was involved but I still procrastinated and left a lot of things to the last minute – NOT IDEAL! I would tell other Brides in my position to really invest the time upfront to get all the critical and important things done so they can just relax and soak up the pre-wedding vibes in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
Words of Wisdom // If you are considering a destination wedding, stop debating and do it! I am so happy we decided on an overseas wedding. It basically guaranteed that all guests were on the same high we were. We also managed to spend the days leading up to (and after) hanging out with our closest friends and family in a destination you would otherwise never be in all at the same time.
Memorable Moments // One of my bridesmaids read an extract from Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
The Tunes // Des’ree – Kissing you, while I walked down the aisle and Angus & Julia Stone – Chateau (Acoustic version) for our first dance.
