The Real Wedding Of Chelsea & Patrick

bride and groom walking on the beach

Chelsea Kirby and Patrick Maitland, who grew up just a handful of streets away from each other in Avoca Beach, tied the knot at Wiltshire Park before partying the night away at their stunning reception on the deck of The Boathouse in Palm Beach.

The couple, in their interview with Vogue, declare that eight years prior to their ‘I Do’ they used to spend their weekends up at Palm Beach having a surf and following it up with breakfast at The Boathouse. “I had always joked that we would get married there one day. Maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophecy,” Chelsea explains to Vogue.

Now enjoy their stunning wedding photos of their big day (lovingly supplied by The Boathouse) – and feel free to drool over Chelsea’s stunning (and self-customised) wedding dress.

The Proposal

Patrick proposed to Chelsea in 2018 while the pair were walking through the Botanical Gardens. “He picked a flower, knotted it into a ring and proposed at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.”

The Dress

A romantic tulle skirt from Monique Lhuillier paired with a slip dress and top she designed herself. “When it came to the slip dress I needed it to be fine enough to go under the skirt, but I wanted it to be substantial enough to be a dress on its own as I wanted to end up in that at the reception. The high neck, long sleeve tulle top was adapted from a few different things I’d seen, but in the end we cut a pattern from one of my favourite jumpers.”

Memorable Moments

“For me, it was walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Pat standing amongst the lush rainforest, inside a floral garden surrounded by all of our closest friends and family. I was going between laughing and crying the whole way.”

Words Of Wisdom

“Create a mood board for your life, rather than a mood board for your wedding day and draw inspiration from there. It will feel more authentic to you and your partner that way. Oh, and go on your honeymoon straight away!”
