The Real Wedding Of Joni & Des: Melbourne, VIC

Like all the best modern love stories, Joni and Des’s began in the most unexpected of places… at the chemist.

The couple first met in 2019 while working as Pharmacy Assistants and completing their studies, and what began as an easy friendship soon evolved into something deeper, turning long shifts and casual chats into the beginnings of what they now affectionately call their own “Chemist Warehouse love story”.

THE PROPOSAL //

The proposal was really sweet! We were on a weekend away in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. When we arrived, there was champagne waiting for us, and chocolates in the shape of a heart on the bed.

The following day was really special. We spent hours at Alba Springs & Spa, and it was the perfect way to unwind and relax after all the excitement, just us two.

THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT //

Honestly, one of the best moments was when it was just the two of us in our Rolls Royce convertible at the end. We left the venue and it suddenly just hit us – we really did it!

It was such a wonderful day, and we were both left speechless and just so happy with how it all went.

THE VISION //

My vision for the day was effortless glamour, but I still wanted to incorporate traditional elements. The style ended up being classical & elegant with a modern touch.

Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. The weather was great, and we experienced zero disappointment from the vendors we chose. From day to night, we both couldn’t wipe the smiles of our faces!

After the ceremony we took some photos in the city, feeling like celebrities wherever we went. It’s so funny getting so much attention from random people walking by. Then onto the reception, and what a party it was. We danced until we dropped with all our friends and family, it was such a special celebration.

THE PERSONAL TOUCHES //

I made my own stationery – save the dates, invitations, place cards, menus and thank you cards. We also went with simple, striking florals, a mix of white roses & baby’s breath.

My dress was a custom creation from Always & Forever Bridal. I basically loved two different dress styles, so we worked together to combine the elements I liked, adding a few more along the way. It was such a cool experience to work on a custom creation, and I couldn’t have been more in love with the end result.
