Sharn got down on one knee after nine years of being with the lovely Tori, presenting her with a custom engagement ring made of their two birthstones. And if you think the sentimental stuff stops there, think again! Using an intimate approach to their Sunshine Coast wedding day, the couple kept the guest list tight and used their big day as an excuse to personally celebrate with their nearest and dearest.

THE PROPOSAL //
It was our 9 year anniversary and Sharn had planned a weekend away at Noosa. He booked the suite at the Sofitel and organised a day of activities. He took me to breakfast and hire a cabana by the pool where we sat and had cocktails in the sun. I knew he was up to something because he was nervous and secretive, but I just assumed it was all part of our anniversary. After a beautiful day we went back to the room to settle in and when we arrived, he had organised a picnic is our suite, with cheese, champagne, fairy lights and candles everywhere, it was magical. He even made a playlist of all our favourite songs playing in the background. I was still none the wiser that this being anything more than our anniversary celebrations.
After about an hour (of what I can only assume a very nerve-racking hour), Sharn started to tell me what I meant to him and how much he loved me, I finally cottoned on and just started to cry, overwhelmed with happiness, he presents a ring and asked the question. The ring was more than incredible, he had custom designed our birthstones with a pear shape diamond in the middle. This ring is so special because it really is ours and a symbol of us. I will never forget that day.
The Most Memorable Moment //
Because we only had 40 guests that was all family at our Sunshine Coast wedding, it was a really emotional day, everyone really poured they hearts out to us, we were surrounded by the people that care for us the most and that made the whole day so memorable. But probably the best part was during our photos, we were waiting for the photographer who was scouting the best lighting, and Sharn and I just got a couple of minutes together, to stop and take it all in, we were finally husband and wife after 10 years and I don’t think you could have wiped the smile off our
faces, we were married and couldn’t be happier.
And because our photographer was so brilliant, he managed to capture the moment without us realising, one of my favourite photos still to this day. ALSO during dinner, when Sharn took our first selfie as husband and wife!
THE WEDDING DRESS //
Did you know what you wanted before shopping? I thought I knew what I wanted going into dress fittings, but I was completely wrong, I tried on so many dresses, when my mum pointed to a dress in the corner. I put it on, felt beautiful and thought Sharn would love it too.Â
How did find your dress? I made an appointment at Luv Bridal.
Your chosen designer: Madi Lane Bridal, purchased from Luv Bridal.
THE WEDDING ACCESSORIES //
Artemis & Co pearl earrings – which really were a statement piece on the day!
THE WEDDING SUIT //
I loved the idea of Sharn in a really dark green suit, but it wasn’t something we had ever seen before and the ones we had seen we didn’t like. We reached out to Andrew who was a tailor and a friend, he showed Sharn the darkest most beautiful green colour and had a suit costume made that fit Sharn perfectly on the day of our Sunshine Coast wedding. We are still talking about that suit!
THE ONE THING THEY WISH THEY KNEW BEFORE WEDDING PLANNING //
No matter how hard you try, not everything will go to plan. I am a perfectionist and love to be organised and 6 months out from our wedding our original wedding venue cancelled. Whilst it was stressful, it was the best thing to ever happen to us, we were able to book our dream Sunshine Coast wedding venue at Spicers Clovelly Estate.
THE ADVICE THEY’D GIVE TO ANOTHER COUPLE //
Don’t be afraid to get quotes tailored to suit you. Because we were having a small wedding with no bridal party, I didn’t need a photographer all day, or a lot of florals. Almost every vendor we had, tailored a quote to suit our needs and financially worked out so much better for us. Also don’t underestimate the power of an incredible celebrant and amazing photographer, those people will make you day memorable! Also invest into a great musician and quality food, your guests will thank you for it!
THE MUSIC //
First Dance: Vance Joy, ‘I’m With You’ // Walking down the aisle: Florence & The Machine, ‘Stand By Me’ // Reception Entrance Song: Michael Eotvos, our musician, played some acoustic guitar.
THE REGRETS //
The end time, I didn’t want it to end.
