The Real Wedding Of Miranda & Thibault – Palm Beach

A couple posing on a beach.

Come with us on a whimsical journey as we get a rundown of Miranda and Thibault’s stunning waterside wedding day in Sydney’s pristine Northern Beaches.

THE PROPOSAL //

I was 9 months pregnant when I arrived home to my long term partner of 6 years standing in the driveway, a towel in hand and excited. Thibault jumped in the car and immediately told me we needed to drive to Palm Beach because his brother just sent him a photo of some fairy penguins down there. Showing me the photo, I didn’t need to be told twice! I was beyond excited… We arrive at the beach and I’m already out the door running (more like waddling with my bump) down the beach telling him to hurry up because I didn’t want to miss it.

I’m a decent 20m away from him when he calls out to me to wait up, I turn around and he’s down on one knee. If there’s one thing I love it’s a complete surprise, and oh my god was I surprised. I never expected my reaction to be what it was, laughter and pure joy. I was speechless. Once the laughter settled and I found my voice again I immediately said yes, followed quickly by but we need to go see the penguins?! Much to my disappointment they were a ploy all along to get me back out the door at sunset after a long day (and hello 9 months pregnant haha).

He even had his brother text him the photo to make it more believable… ha! It turns out the ring arrived last minute that afternoon just before we were going on our babymoon the next morning and Thibault’s last minute decision to propose at palm beach meant we could return to this special place, where he grew up, and where we would tie the knot almost two years later.

The Most Memorable Moment //

This feels impossible to answer! The entire day was just completely magical. Having all of our nearest and dearest with us was pretty incredible… Our families are spread across 3 different states and haven’t all been together before. Another favorite would be having an impromptu flower girl last minute. My husbands 7yo cousin wore the most precious white dress and it was so sweet to have her throw petals down the isle before the girls walked down.

But my favourite would be meeting Thibault at the end of the isle, the weather was completely perfect, sunshine with slight breeze. The perfect vibe for our garden party. Our celebrant reminded us at the end of the isle to look around and take it all in, and that was pretty special.

THE VISION //

We wanted an intimate seaside soirée. We wanted it to feel like a backyard garden party, that was fun, relaxed and beautiful.

YOUR DAY IN YOUR WORDS //

It was beyond anything I could have dreamed up on a Pinterest board. We had an intimate ceremony on the Pittwater side of palm beach. Our son Rocky walked me down the isle in a matching suit to his dad, a suit I had created for them both. I’m a designer by profession…The ceremony was by far my favourite part. Hearing my partners vows… I could stand in that moment forever.

We signed on each other backs, to keep things casual and flowing. Before running back up the isle together as husband & wife to a champagne tower to get the party started! After our portraits I changed into my reception mini dress that I had made and we had an impromptu first dance entrance straight into cutting our incredible pressed floral cake. We had a sit down sunset dinner of two long tables, and served espresso martinis by candlelight.

Then we partied, a few went swimming in the water with the most incredible bioluminescence that a lot of our guests including myself had never seen before. It was the perfect end to a truly magical day

THE ADVICE THEY’D GIVE TO ANOTHER COUPLE //

Communication! The whole time. Divide and conquer the things you’re good at, and do what YOU want to do, not what anyone else thinks you should do. Build a team of vendors who are as excited as you are & are experts in their crafts, and then TRUST them completely.
