In the latest edition of, ‘what crazy things can we find on reddit today?’, the story of a posh wedding with a side of DIY is going viral, as guests take to social media to express their anguish at being left ‘hungry and disappointed’ at a recent black tie wedding.

The couple who took to Reddit to express their disappointment said they were directed to dress in formal wear for the event and were asked to choose between chicken and fish for dinner in the RSVP.

‘We dressed to the gills,’ the reddit post read.

So after the ceremony, when it came time to eat, they were shocked that instead of their fancy chicken meal there was simply a self-serve instant ramen noodle bar.

‘Just instant ramen, cubed ham, some little vegetables here and there, and kids sized chip bags. To top it off, it was also BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze),’ the couple reported.

‘I’ve been to a lot of weddings. I’m not a snob by any means. But that wedding is the tackiest one I’ve ever attended,’ they continued.

People were quick to judge the bride and groom featured in the now deleted post, with many slamming them for being so cheap.

“Yikes!! I’ve seen weddings where instant ramen was the late night snack (which sounds so good tbh) but serving that as the main meal while making your guests dress formal is such a bad look, how rude,” one person commented.

‘Sounds like the kind of wedding where you pick your gift up on the way out,’ one person said.

The consensus on reddit was that while this was acceptable as a dinner offering for a low-key wedding, it didn’t cut the mustard for one considered ‘black tie’.

Others concluded that the couple must have had some sort of issue with catering and were possibly left scrambling to find something to feed their hungry guests.

Interestingly, several commenters were left inspired by the story, apparently convinced at how wonderful this idea could be on their own Big Day.

‘I actually want a REAL ramen bar at my wedding now. Different house-made stocks, different noodle types, and dozens of different yummy toppings. That sounds delicious,’ one wrote.

One thing’s for sure. I’ll take ramen any day, as long as it comes with a fresh egg on top! My only concern, the slurping splashback!
