The Real Wedding Of Brittany and Edward – Hunter Valley, NSW

Brittany was never one of those girls who sat around dreaming about her wedding day. She didn’t have a pinterest board, or a clear vision of what she wanted – even when Ed proposed it was still a very relaxed process.

Britt and Ed were both so excited about spending the rest of their lives together and didn’t want or need a long engagement. After a quick trip to the Hunter Valley and only viewing a handful of venues they decided on the stunning Bimbadgen Palmers Lane in Pokolbin Hunter Valley. It ticked all the boxes for modern, barn style, mountain view venue! Bimbadgen was the first venue they viewed and it was booked by the afternoon as nothing else compared and it just felt ‘right’.  The pair married 9 months later on the 6th January 2023.

After 9 months planning, the couple had the most incredible, magical, love filled party day! With over 136 guests, friends and family from all over the world the couple look back at their wedding day with so much love and happiness for one of the best days of their life! With guests saying they enjoyed their wedding more than their own!

THE PROPOSAL //

Well, I love hippos! My now husband, proposed at a hippo feeding exhibition at Dubbo zoo! We went to celebrate me finishing a job and accepting my dream role – I got to feed a hippo and then they let me pat one and was crying for living my dream. My partner asked the zoo keeper to take a photo of us with the hippo and the hippo had his mouth wide open and he dropped a knee 🙂 couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect and unique! The image is amazing too! Getting engaged in a paddock with hippo’s may not be romantic to some, but for me it honestly could not have been more perfect if he tried!

The Most Memorable Moment //

It is really hard to pick one as it was such an incredible day but one was my dad who never shows emotion having tears as he walked me down the aisle! Seeing my husband at the end of the aisle trying to hold back tears and my twin brother walking me down the aisle with my dad. We were all cracking jokes and laughing as we walked down which was such a special moment for the 3 of us.

The dance floor! It never stopped. Our videographer recently sent us all the raw footage from the dancefloor and there is hours of footage and it is incredible! Everyone was having the best time with Silent Shout dropping absolute bangers and read the room that we had a party crew! We had a conga line going, the boys wrapped around waists with there legs doing bum bongos, everyone grabbing a microphone and singing, eagle rock pant drop (yes my dad dropped his pants too), people on shoulders, we had life size cut outs of my bulldog, bunny and hippo and they all made the dance floor. Anf of course, the 70ml fireball shots we made everyone do after our speech which really got the party going!

We also snuck out after the dinner with our photographer for ‘sunset’ photos – there was no sunset haha but we got the most incredible photos dancing in the rain together and they are my most favourite photos from the day – they look so magical. My tip, if you get rain EMBRACE IT! if i had a choice i would 100% want rain, it made the day so magical and as they say – its harder to untie a wet knot. Everyone in our family has had rain on their wedding and they have all been married 30+ years 🙂 i genuinely believe it happens for a reason!

THE VISION //

I have never been someone who cares what people think! I wasn’t stressed about what the venue needed to look like. All i wanted was people to have the most fun possible! I also don’t notice things when i go to weddings so thought why would people notice details at mine. We wanted something that was modern, simple, barn style, lots of fairy lights and a clean, white and dreamy space – everything that Bimbadgen had! As soon as we saw the mountain view though that was what sold us! It was stunning! I have always loved open spaces, nature and mountains so getting married in front of a mountain with dreamy whit floras was perfect! We knew it was going to rain for the ceremony – but we wanted the mountain view so much – it made it more fun knowing what we were in for and everyone was going to get wet with us 🙂 It was simple, classy and timeless 🙂

YOUR DAY IN YOUR WORDS //

Unique to us! We didn’t follow trends or do what we thought was expected! It was stunning and classic! Our first dance we did some karaoke and I wore jumpsuit that went viral on TikTok whilst rapping Eminem! My dad and I danced to ‘Dancing Queen’ by Abba as our father daughter dance! We walked down the aisle to 50cent when we were married! We didn’t want our wedding to be a photoshoot It was the ultimate party! And if i had my day again – i would not change a thing!

THE ADVICE THEY’D GIVE TO ANOTHER COUPLE //

Do it your way! We had so many people providing opinions and we just focussed on what we wanted to do! Remain calm, if someone told me my MOH would forget her bouquet, we would have rain and wind in the ceremony and my dad would spill red wine down my dress I probably would have freaked out – on the day I didn’t care and just had the best time! Don’t compare to what you see on the internet – nothing is perfect and go with the flow of your day! You have one day! Be present, focus on you and your partner! No one will notice the extra flowers you are stressing about 🙂
